Vogue 7521 – Out of Print Pattern in an Out of Print Fabric

imageimageimageimageVogue 7521 - Out of Print Pattern in an Out of Print Fabric

I bought this fabric in the early 70′s probably thinking of making a caftan or a Dashiki shirt. Who knows? It was at the bottom of my fabric stash and I pulled it out to try a modification to this pattern. I was attempting to create the Lupita Oscar Grecian Oscar dress effect. I ended up adding some fabric for gathers to the front bodice and then cutting the original front bodice pieces for the back of the dress. Voila! A cool, airy sundress!

My almost 8 year old granddaughter wanted the Anna Dress so she and her sister can be Anna and Elsa from the movie, Frozen.

My five year old granddaughter is dreaming of a Frozen dress! I kind of made up the pattern and design as I went along. The gown is worn over a while leotard. The cape is detachable from snap tabs inside the dress under the arms.

Ready for Easter Aprons!

Just throw a pretty spring apron on over your t-shirt and jeans and you are ready to serve Easter dinner! I drafted the patterns for these aprons myself. One-size fits all and fun to wear.

Spring Fling Dress – McCalls 6883

This print reminds me of the greening of spring with trees budding and bulbs sending up fresh green shoots.

Simplicity 1609 – Cherry Blossom Dress

imageSimplicity 1609 - Cherry Blossom Dress

It is Cherry Blossom time in this pink and white awning stripe dress. I was inspired by the use of stripes in this pattern in a review on Pattern Review.Com and decided to try it. I used a heavier home decorator cotton that was designed for drapes or valances and then cut it on the bias to create the chevron effect. This is one time when that 60′s style center front seam works to the advantage!
