Skorts for the granddaughters who love to dance.

I had some knit scraps around and decided to try this free downloadable pattern from Craftsy.com. It was easy to make and I love the attached shorts for active girls. I think they will be great for over a leotard going to and from dance class.

Comfy and Fun Skirt! – McCalls 6966

I bought these laguna cotton coordinating fabrics a while ago with something else in mind. Then I saw this skirt pattern and wanted to give it a try. As a result, I didn't really have enough fabric to cut the pieces correctly so I squeezed them out! I love the skirt. It is so comfortable and not too full. A great cross-season skirt.

Seersucker Blouse – Butterick 6085

My sister-in-law chose the pattern and sent fabric to make a black and white checked seersucker blouse. This pattern is very fitted . When she received it, she announced, it appeared to be designed for a Barbie Doll. For a looser fit, don't sew the darts!

Father/Son Route 66 Shirts! New Look 6997 and Simplicity 9762

Who could pass up these car buttons with separate axles  and turning wheels for a little boy turning 4?   My son and grandson are both car enthusiasts so when I saw this Route 66 fabric printed with vintage 50’s cars, I decided they had to have shirts.  Unfortunately, I didn’t buy enough fabric for both shirts so I had to improvise!  I like the way the contrasting blue on my grandson’s shirt highlights the red cars, though.imageimageimage

Happy Star Spangled 4th! McCalls 6956 with New Look 6531

imageA quick dress to celebrate the 4th of July. I liked the contrasting fabric and bias design of New Look 6531 but wanted a more structured bodice. So I used the bra top on McCalls 6956. Ready for the parade!
